Ravi Zacharias, apologista, evangelista, escritor, faleceu nesta manhã (19/05/20), nos Estados Unidos, aos 74 anos. Há dois meses Ravi havia sido diagnosticado com câncer.
Ravi era mundialmente conhecido por suas brilhantes habilidades apologéticas e evangelísticas, capaz de articular a fé cristã de maneira inteligente, mas também compassiva e bela. Ravi pregou em mais de 70 países e escreveu mais de 30 livros sobre espiritualidade e apologética (em 2018, Vida Nova publicou seu livro “Jesus entre outros deuses”). Fundou o ministério Ravi Zacharias International Ministries (RZIM) em 1984 que, desde então, tem se expandido a diversos locais do mundo com diversos preletores itinerantes que anunciam a fé cristã em universidades e espaços públicos. Ravi era casado com Margaret e, juntos, tinham três filhos. Em seu s últimos dias, Ravi divulgou que se sentia em paz, citando um hino de Richard Baxter:
“Lord, it belongs not to my care
Whether I die or live;
To love and serve Thee is my share,
And this Thy grace must give.
If life be long, I will be glad,
That I may long obey;
If short, yet why should I be sad
To welcome endless day?Christ leads me through no darker rooms
Than He went through before;
He that unto God’s kingdom comes
Must enter by this door.
Come Lord, when grace hath made me meet
Thy blessed face to see;
For if Thy work on earth be sweet
What will thy glory be!Then I shall end my sad complaints

And I shall be with Him.”
